  • How many solvent extraction plants & Veg Oil Refineries are there?
  • We have designed over 30 solvent extraction plants and veg oil refineries during the last 10 years. All these plants are known for their process efficiencies, product qualities, and consistent operation. Our Seed preparation plants are totally dust-free and designed to ensure consistent quality.
  • What is solvent extraction?
  • Solvent extraction is now used universally either as a ‘finishing’ unit operation after low-pressure expellers, or as the sole process for extraction of oil, for most oilseeds. The present-day world scenario in vegetable oil extraction is dominated by solvent extraction.
  • How is oil extracted from seed?
  • In solvent extraction, seed is brought into contact with a solvent which dissolves the oil, the oil-rich solvent phase (miscella) is then separated from the oil-free seed mass (known as the ‘marc’) by a simple filtration technique, and the oil is recovered by distilling off the low-boiling solvent.
  • How did humans extract oil?
  • Humans have extracted oil from various oil-bearing materials (seeds) for food pur-poses from time immemorial. While it is quite likely that the first attempts could have been to hammer seeds with stones to extract some oil, the widely used primitive method was boiling seeds in water and skim off the extracted oil (Bredeson, 1983).
  • How to prepare high-oil-content seeds in an extruder?
  • For high-oilcontent seeds, with more than 30% oil, the extruder would be fitted with a drained cage, to recover up to half the oil. It should be noted, that for the above performance to be achieved, the flakes are to be heated close to the normal cooking temperature, in a small cooker, upstream of Extruder.
  • Is vegetable oil processing a good Handbook?
  • In summary, Dr. Vadke has assembled a very extensive review of vegetable oil processing that can be an excellent handbook for operators of small- to medium-sized plants, and can inform designers and potential investors of new plants. It is a very comprehensive introduction to this field for potential students and researchers.
